About Rose and Her Journey

 ABOUT ME

What motivates us to wake up in the morning and can't wait to do what we have to do in life, whether it's working, being a mother to our child, or a beloved wife to our husband?

Hi, my name is Rose, and I am originally from Cambodia, a country located between Vietnam and Thailand. I grew up in the countryside, where the government didn't provide education or food stamps like the United States does.

Unfortunately, I had to quit school when I was in fifth grade to work and support my family of eight. My parents divorced when I was two years old, and my youngest sister was only one year old. Life wasn't easy during that time for many of us.

I used to sell vegetables and spices in an open market in the morning until noon. After that, I would continue selling snacks from house to house in the village until night. We worked every day from morning till night, but it seemed that we barely had enough food to eat.

During that period, I had the opportunity to learn how to sew and design clothes from my neighbor, who owned a sewing shop in my village. At the age of 16, I became a seamstress and designed custom-made clothing for women, while also teaching young women how to sew and design.

In 2006, I moved to the United States, and my eagerness to learn remained with me. Even as a mom raising two sons, I continued to learn English. In 2009, I achieved my GED certificate. Then, I enrolled in college for fashion design and business administration. In 2016, I obtained my associate degrees in fashion and business administration from SFCC.

Following that, I enrolled in New Mexico Highlands University for my business management degree, which I completed in 2018. Now, I am looking forward to obtaining my master's degree in Fashion Design.

I love learning, and I hope my story inspires you to achieve what you want in life. Don't let fear and obstacles stop you from becoming who you were born to be!
