What does it motivates us to wake up in the morning and just can’t wait to do what we are going to do in life from working, being a mother to your child, to a wife to your beloved husband?

Hi, my name is Rose. I am originally from CambodiaCambodia is located between Vietnam and Thailand. I grew up in the countryside where the government doesn’t really provide education or food stamp like the United States does.

Unfortunately, I have to quit school when I was in fifth grade to go to work to support my family of eight. My parent divorced when I was two years old and my youngest sister was one year old. Life wasn’t that easy during that time for many of us.

I sold vegetables and spices in an open market in the morning until noon, then continue selling snacks from house to house in the village until night. We work every day from morning until night, but it seemed that we barely had enough food to eat.

During the process, I also learned how to sew and design clothes from my neighbor who owns a sewing shop in my village. I became a seamstress at the age of 16 years-old. I designed custom-made clothing for women, at the same time I taught young women how to sew and design.

I moved to the United States in 2006. My eagerness to learn is still in me. While I am a mom raising two sons, I continue to learn English. In 2009, I achieved my GED certificate. Then, I enrolled in college for fashion design and business administration. In 2016, I achieved my associate degrees in fashion and business administration from SFCC.

Right after that, I enrolled in a New Mexico Highlands University for my business management. In 2018, I achieved my bachelor’s degree in business management. Now, I am looking forward to getting my master’s in media art degree.

I love learning and I hope my story inspires you to achieve what you want in life. Don’t let fear and obstacle stop you from achieving what you were born to be!
