A step-by-step video guide: how to sew a button by hand for beginners
- First, cut the thread at a diagonal angle to get the sharp point, so it is easier to insert into the eye of the needle.
- Wax the thread with a candle to smooth the thread, so the thread does not tangle along
- You can loop the thread in an opposite or diagonal direction of the buttonholes. For this demonstration, we will loop the thread in a diagonal direction.
- First, thread the needle. Then tie the thread off. Next, place one needle on top of the button. Bring the needle up from the bottom of the fabric through one hole.
- Bring the needle back down through a diagonal hole. Repeat it 4 loops in the same two holes. Then continue to the next two holes.
- Loop the thread around under the button, but above the fabric twice. This will make it easier for you to insert the button into a buttonhole.
- Finally, pass the needle through the stitches, then loop the thread around the needle twice. Repeat the process, then snip the thread off. Now, you have a perfect.
