A Step by Step on How to Sew Sleeve Cuffs
Step Number 1: How to Fold Pleats in CLO3D
Tips: be sure to strengthen the sleeve first (by right-click on the sleeve in the 3D window then select Strengthen.
Folding the pleats > click on the Line-1 > Property Editor >
Fold: Fold Angle type in 0 (zero). Next, Line-2 > Property Editor >
Fold: Fold Angle type in 360. Note: leave (Fold Strength) as default which is 5. After that press the space bar to simulate activating the fold effect.
Please, see the guide-line photo.
Step Number 2: How to Sew Pleats
To sew the pleats, I’m going to use a Free Sewing tool by going to the 2D Toolbar click on it to select. Next, begin the sewing from Line-2 (see the guide-line photo below) by clicking once to start, then hover your mouse to the right until you reach the baseline. Then, click once to place the sewing. After that, click once again on Line-2, but this time hover the mouse to the left until you reach Line-1. Then, click once to place the sewing.
While the Free Sewing Tool is still active, this time click on the Line-1 to begin the sewing and hover the mouse to the right until you reach the Line-2 then click once to place the sewing. Next, click once on Line-1 again, but this time hover your mouse to the left until you see a blue ball appear. This means that you can click once to place the sewing. After the sewing, press on the space bar to simulate.
Tips: The sewing should be flat if it is not usually the sewing twisted. If that happens, just go to the Edit Sewing Tool and click on it to select. Then, come to the sewing click on it, and right-click to reverse the sewing or command/control + letter b.
How to Change the Sewing Line to Turned?
While the Edit Sewing Tool is still active, click on the “pleat sewing” > Property Editor > Sewing Line Type: select Turned (applied Turned on both sewings).
Step Number 3: How to Sew a Placket onto a Sleeve
Tips: be sure all the sewing notches are parallel with one another.
I’m going to go to the Segment Sewing Tool, and click on it once to select. Then, begin the sewing with this internal placket. Click once to place the sewing. Next, I’m going to sew it to this placket pattern. Please, see the guide-line photo from 1 through 6.
Step Number 4: How to Sew the Sleeve to the Cuff
Here is how to Sew the Sleeve Cuffs onto the Sleeves
Again, I’m going to use the “guide-line photo on how to sew the sleeve cuffs.” So, based on the photo guideline, we are going to sew from number 1 to number 5 in order.
I’m here in the ClO3D window, I’m going to press number 2 on my keyboard to get a Front-view of the garment. Then, come to the 2D window, and scroll my mouse-wheel back-word to zoom out. Next, press down option/alt while left-click and drag to the location you want.
After that, I’m going to come down here and select this 2D, so I can see as close as I can to get the accurate sewing.
I’m going to the 2D Toolbar and selecting the Free Sewing Tool. Then, start by clicking once to start the sewing. Then, hover the mouse to the left and click once to place the sewing.
Now, press down Shift before continuing sewing to number 2. While pressing down Shift continue to sew in order from number 3 until reaching the number 5. See the guide-line photo below.
Tips: be sure to Unfreeze both of the sleeve cuffs before simulating.
