I.  Overview of the 3 basic skirt pattern blocks that will be created using CLO 3D

  • A-line skirt
  • Pencil skirt
  • Mermaid skirt

II. Making A-Line Skirt Pattern Block 

A. Preparation

  1. Go to the menu and select the "Parametric Pattern" tool
  2. Click "Create"

B. Measurement/Guidelines

  1. Extend the vertical to 45 cm
  2. Create an Internal Line box
  3. Set the side segment type to "Default Corner, Mirror"
  4. Cut both patterns

C. Internal Lines Creation

  1. Create 3 internal lines from waist to hem (3 cm, 9 cm, 11 cm)
  2. Create 2 internal lines from the center to the side seam (8 cm, 17.47 cm)
  3. Create 1 internal line from skirt hem to waist (1.5 cm)

D. Creating Points via Internal Lines

  1. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  2. Select the dart line, hip line, and hemline
  3. Extend/Trim and add a point to the pattern outline

E. Creating Skirt Darts

  1. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  2. Lock all pattern outlines
  3. Convert all internal lines to baselines
  4. Lock all baselines (twice)
  5. Click on the dart point, right-click, and select "add dart"
  6. Set the Dart width to 2 cm, the Dart arm to 1, and the Dart length to 9 cm
  7. Press return/enter twice to confirm

F. Creating Hem Curve

  1. Remove the side seam point
  2. Convert to curve point on the dart point

G. Creating Hip Curve

  1. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  2. Click on the point, then drag plus right-click to (0.7 cm)
  3. Convert to a curve point

H. Creating Waist Line

  1. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  2. Extract the waist-line (3 cm)

I. Creating a Waist-Band

  1. Use the Rectangle tool
  2. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  3. Set the Width to 17.47 and Height to 3 cm
  4. Add a point from the side seam (0.5 cm)
  5. Remove the outside point

III. Making Pencil Skirt Pattern Block 

A. Creating Skirt Hem

  1. Use the Internal Polygon/line tool
  2. Draw a line from the hem-line to the hip line
  3. Cut

B. Creating Hip Curve

  1. Use the Smooth Curve tool
  2. Click on the hip point, then drag in-ward plus right-click (50%, 7)

IV. Making Mermaid Skirt Pattern Block 

A. Preparation

  1. Use the "Edit pattern" tool
  2. Extend the pattern outline to 60 cm
  3. Check the Create Internal Line box
  4. Set the side segment type to "Default Corner, Mirror"
