Hey Designistas, in this video, I will demonstrate how to bring digital knit texture into Clo 3D and apply that texture onto the 3D garments quickly and easily. I will also show you how to clean it up in Adobe Photoshop and bring it into Clo.
Additionally, not only will you learn how to use these textures, but you will also receive 5 free seamless digital knit textures for your 3D garments. Alright, are you ready? Let’s get started.
I’m here in Clo, and these are my garments: a long top and skirt. Before bringing in the knit textures, I'll show you how to fix the knit texture in Adobe Photoshop really quickly, okay?
Now that I'm here in Adobe Photoshop, the first step is to unzip the folder. To do this, I will go to Finder and double-click on the folder to unzip it. So, just a quick tip, guys: make sure to unzip the folder before bringing the texture into Photoshop and Clo 3D. Okay, now simply click on the .psd file and select 'Open'.
Next, if we look down here in the layers panel, we’ll see a layer group and a background layer. We want to hide this background layer and click on this group folder to hide this shadow layer. After that, I will go to File > Export As > PNG and save it in my folder.
So, this is the process of cleaning up the knit texture before bringing it into Clo. However, no worries, guys, I already did this for you. So, the fabrics in the folder, you don’t have to open them with Adobe Photoshop; you can use the PNG files and bring them straight into Clo.
Okay, back to Clo. To bring the knit textures, I will go to the Fabric tab and click on the plus sign, then navigate to my texture folder, click on it to select, and click on Open. After that, double-click on the folder, and there it is.
Now, to apply the knit texture onto the garment, simply click on the texture you want and drag and drop it onto the garment. Be sure to click on OK to confirm. In this case, the texture comes with the perfect size. However, let's say sometimes the pattern is too big or too small. How can we change the size? Let me show you the perfect tool for it.
Simply go to the Edit Texture tool, either in the 3D or 2D toolbars. In this case, I will select the one in the 3D toolbar. Then, click on the garment, and using the gizmo tool, click and drag to increase or decrease the size of the pattern.
Now, finally, we want to save the texture to use for the future. To do that, we have two options: the first option is to simply go to Save and Save As Project, then navigate to the folder you want to save. And the second option is to go to Object Browser, click on the texture that you want to save, then come down here to Property Editor and click on the save icon. Next, simply click on "texture image only" and then click on OK.
Okay, now I will show you how to bring that texture back to Clo. Simply go to the Property Editor and click on this folder icon here. After that, navigate to the fabric texture here, click on it, and click on Open.
After that, you can either drag and drop it onto the garment just like that or marquee select the pattern and click on this Assign button here to assign the textures.
