By the end of this video, you will know how to make a perfect true-to-size belt buckle and a belt strap in CLO3D. These include making the belt buckle components such as a frame, a bar, a prong, and a belt strap. After that, export the belt buckle and then import it back into CLO. This, allows you to resize and change the color to fit your design.

Eyelets:
- Making 5 eyelets from the 5 holes > offset as internal line: distance 0.2 cm (cut & sew)
- Changing particle distance for the holes and the eyelets to 1
- Creating a new fabric and name Hole-5 (apply that fabric onto the 5 holes)
- Creating another fabric name Eyelets (apply that fabric onto the 5 eyelets)
- Changing the eyelets material type to Metal (Render Only)
Head:
- Creating 2 internal lines for the head strap: Distance of 2.3 cm (number offsets is 2)
- Cut & Sew a hole: w 0.35, h 1.08 cm
- Sewing the Edge to the 2nd internal line
- Folding the 1st internal line
- Changing the strap Add’l Thickness – Rendering to 1
- Changing the Texture on the belt strap (Library > Material > stylized_rib_knit…)
- Applying the top stitches: on the edges of the strap (single), on the end tip, and the 2nd internal line (double)
Tweaking the Belt Prong, Buckle and Strap
- Importing the buckle as (Avatar)
- Importing the prong as (Trim)
- Adjusting the size of the prong

How to Make a Belt Frame
- Creating a frame: go to the Rectangle Tool > Click one on the page, to bring this Create Rectangle window: W 6.5, H 5.
- Curving the 4 corners: go to the Smooth Curve Tool > place your mouse over the corner point > right-click to bring this Round Corner by Length window > click on this link icon > W 0.4, H 0.4 (repeat these steps for 3 more corners).
- Offset as Internal Line 0.7: go to the Edit Pattern Tool > marquee select the whole object > right-click > Offset as Internal Line: Distance 0.7 cm.
- Converting an internal shape to a hole: by default the internal shape is selected, if it is not selected > Transform Pattern Tool > click on the internal shape to select > right-click > Convert to Hole. How to Make a Belt Bar
- Creating a bar for the belt buckle: Measuring the height of the Buckle > Edit Pattern Tool > click on the vertical line here on this line and it is 3.6 > Rectangle Tool > click one on the page to bring this Create Rectangle window: w 0.6, h 3.6.
- Aligning the bar to the frame: Transform Pattern Tool > marquee select both objects > right-click > select Center > right-click > select Middle.
- Go to the 3D window > Reset 2D Arrangement > Thick Textured Surface.
How to Make a Belt Prong
- Creating the belt prong: go to the Rectangle Tool > click one on the page to bring this Create Rectangle window: w 3.5, h 0.6.
- Curving the 2 corners:
- Smooth Curve Tool > place your mouse over the corner point > right-click to bring this Round Corner by Length window > click on the link icon > w 0.1, h 0.1 (repeat this step to the other corner).
- Changing the Particle Distance to 1:
- Transform Pattern Tool > marquess select all the objects > Property Editor > Simulation Properties > Particle Distance (mm) 1.
- Changing the Add’l Thickness – Rendering to 3:
- While all the objects are selected > Property Editor > Simulation Properties > Add’l Thickness – Rendering 3.
Exporting the Frame and the Bar as OBJ Files
- Transform Pattern tool > marquess select the frame and the bar > File > Export > OBJ (Selected) > Name the File > Navigate to where you want to save > Save.
OBJ window:
- Single Object
- Thick
- Save with Absolute Texture Image File Path
- Then, click on OK.
Exporting the Belt Prong
- Transform Pattern Tool > click on the prong to select > File > Export > OBJ (Selected) > Name the File > Navigate to where you want to save > Save.
OBJ window:
- Single Object
- Thick
- Save with Absolute Texture Image File Path
- Then, click on OK.
How to Make Belt Strap
- The particle Distance for the strap is 5.
- Create fabric for the strap: go to Rectangle Tool > Click one on the page, to bring this Create Rectangle window: w 106, h 3 cm.
Making the End Tip:
- 1st internal line: Edit Pattern Tool > click on the edge of this end tip > right-click > Offset as Internal Line: Distance: 2 cm, Number of Offsets: 1.
- 2nd internal line: Edit Pattern Tool > click on the edge of this end tip > right-click > Offset as Internal Line: Distance: 11 cm, Number of Offsets: 1.
- Add a point on the End tip center, then remove both of the side points.
Making Head for the Strap:
- Creating 3 internal lines for the head strap: Edit Pattern Tool > Distance is 2.3 cm (number offsets is 2), the 3rd internal line: Distance 2.60 cm > Convert to Baseline.
- Make a hole: go the Internal Ellipse Tool > place a mouse over this center here and click one to bring the Create Ellipse wind: w 0.35, h 1.08 cm > right-click on that internal shape > Cut & Sew
- Sew the edge to the 2nd internal line > Segment Sewing Tool > click on the edge, then click on the 2nd internal line to sew both lines together.
- Fold the strap head: go to the 3D window > Fold Arrangement > fold the 1st internal line > simulate.
- Name the default fabric Strap > Object Browser > click on the fabric to highlight, and then type in Strap
- Create 2 more fabrics: Object Browser > Add > name that fabric Holes and then name the 2nd fabric Eyelets > apply that Hole fabric all the holes and apply the Eyelets fabric onto all the eyelets.
- Object Browser > Click on the Holes fabric > Property Editor > Opacity 0.
- The Particle Distance for the hole is 1.
- Transform Pattern Tool > click one on the strap > Property Editor > Simulation Properties > Add’l Thickness – Rendering 1.
Importing the Buckle:
- File > Import > OBJ > this will bring up this Import OBJ window > Basic: Load Type: Add, Object Type: Avatar, Scale: mm (Default), %: 100 > Translation > Unit: cm.
Importing the Prong:
- File > Import > OBJ > this will bring up this Import OBJ window > Basic: Load Type Add, Object: Trim, Scale: mm (Default), %: 100 > Translation > Unit: cm.
