How To Make A4 Paper Size PDF Sewing Template for E-Patterns

Hello, Designistas! By the end of this video, I will demonstrate how to create a professional PDF sewing template in Adobe Illustrator for A4 Paper Size. This template can be used for your digital sewing patterns on your home printer. The steps include creating the artboards, labeling the pages, and saving it as a sewing template that you can use for your e-patterns, such as those created in Clo 3D.

Here are the key steps:

Creating the Pages

  • Create 40 art boards with a page size of 7.27 inches by 10.69 inches.
  • Set Bleed and Spacing to 0 (zero).

Creating the Borders

  • Create borders for each artboard with a size of 7.27 inches by 110.69 inches.
  • Use a 2-point stroke and no fill.
  • Align the borders horizontally and vertically with the artboards.

Creating the Circles

  • Create 0.5-inch (1/2-inch) circles with a gray fill and 70 percent opacity.
  • Place one at each corner of every art board.

Numbering the Pages

  • Use a font size of 120 and set the opacity to 70 percent.
  • Place the page numbers about 1/3 from the top of each page and set the opacity to 70 percent.

Creating the Scaling Square

  • Create a 1-inch by 1-inch square with a 1-point stroke.
  • Label it as "1” x 1” in."
  • Align it correctly using the align tools in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Create a 2.5 centimeters by 2.5 centimeters square with a 1-point stroke.
  • Label it as "2.5 x 2.5 cm."
  • Align it using the align tools.
  • Notes: Be sure to measure the 1-inch by 1-inch (2.5 centimeters by 2.5 centimeters) square before cutting the fabric.
  • Text size 14 pt.
