Super Lacy Girl Fashion Sketch Project

Super Lacy Girl Fashion Sketch Project

The super lacy girl is one of my fashion sketch projects at Santa Fe Community College. I am going to share with you tips and tricks on how and why I chose her pose.

How to Create a Super Lacy Girl Fashion Sketch

Selecting Fashion Croquis

First select fashion croquis. Selecting a fashion croquis is very important as a designer. If you can draw your croquis that is a plus. However, most of us don’t have the patience to learn how to draw fashion croquis. So, I got these fashion croquis from Fashion Sketchbook by Bina Abling.

Hand Drawing Fashion

I began by drawing the panty and bra with a pencil. Then drawing the overall suit. After that, I canned her into my Desktop computer. For this Super Lacy Sketch project, I used the Photoshop application. I use the paint bucket tool in Photoshop to give her a unique skin tone. Then using a tool brush to give her some shade.

The Lace Swatch

I grabbed my favorite lace swatch from fabric.com. Next, turn that lace fabric into a pattern in the Photoshop application. After creating the pattern, now it is time to apply that pattern to your sketch.

Applying the Lacy Fabric

Applying the pattern onto the sketch: Use the “Magic Wand tool to select the area you want to apply the pattern > go to “Create new fill or adjustment layer” tool in the bottom right of the Photoshop application > click on it > select “Pattern” > Click on it > Navigate to the pattern which you created > “Scale:” it is up to you to scale however small or big you would like. I scaled this lace pattern to 80 percent > click “OK” to confirm.

Final Process for Super Lacy Girl Project

I use a blend mode to get a variety of colors, as well as the background, and effects. Then I export these photos as JPG with a quality of 50 percent.

I hope this fun project gives you some ideas to create your amazing project as a fashion design student.

Please send me comments and feedback, I love to hear from you all fashionistas!
