How to Make a T-Shirt in CLO 3D: A Step-by-Step Tutorial
Hello Designistas! I'm Rose, and today I'm thrilled to guide you through the process of creating a fabulous t-shirt using the traditional pattern drafting method in CLO 3D. This step-by-step tutorial will take you from the initial measurements to the finishing touches, ensuring you end up with a stunning virtual garment. Let's dive in!
Step 1: Gathering Measurements
Here's what you'll need:
Top Length: 74
Bust Circumference: 24
Waist Circumference: 22
Hip Circumference: 24.5
Shoulder Length: 21
Hip-L: 61
Sleeve Length: 27
Sleeve Circumference: 18
High Point Shoulder to Waist-Front/Back: 35, 38
Neck-B-D: (B, F) 4, 12
Neckband-H: 2
Notes: most measurements are in 1/4 (Centimeters).
Step 2: Applying Formulas
Now, let's put those formulas to work:
Shoulder Slope-Back Internal Line Depth: 1.5, 4
Shoulder Slope-Front Internal Line Depth: 1, 1.5
Armhole Depth: Full shoulder length divided by 2 + 4 (Example: 42/2 = 21 + 4 = 25)
Dart Line: 8.5; also, a Neck Width
Sleeve Cap Depth: 12
Bicep: Measure a finished front and back armholes, divide by 2, then subtract 4 (Example: xx.xx/2 = xx. xx - 4 = xx. xx)
Extend 1 cm to Pattern front hem. Then, decrease 1 cm side seam (refers to the video)
Notches: 9, 11 (2 on the Sleeve-cap-B, 1 on the Sleeve-cap-F).
Step 3: Shrinkage/Elasticity
Shrinkage: 90 percent (neckband)
Elastic: Neckband: 5 and 90
Step 4: Adding Topstitches
Binding-Single: Single topstitches with Offsets: 0, Shape: Single, Face: Front, Number of lines: 1.
Neck-All-Single: Single topstitches with Offsets: 1/16, Shape: Single, Face: Front, Number of lines: 1.
Neck-F-Overlock: Overlock topstitches with Offsets: 1/8, Shape: Overlock, Face: Back, Number of lines: 1.
Sleeve/Hems-F-Double: Double topstitches with Offsets: 0, Shape: Custom, Face: Front, Number of lines: 2.
Sleeve/Hems-F-Overlock: Overlock topstitches with Offsets: 1/8, Shape: Overlock, Face: Front, Number of lines: 1.
Step 5: Simulating and Visualizing
Simulate the garment to ensure it fits the avatar correctly and visualize the finished product. This step adds life to your creation.
Step 6: Adding Graphic Design
Take it up a notch by applying a graphic design to your t-shirt. Let your creativity shine!
Step 7: Final Touches and Outro

Here are the key steps: Creating the Pages Create 40 art boards with a page size of 7.27 inches by 10.69 inches. Set Bleed and Spacing to 0 (zero). Creating the Borders Create borders for each artboard with a size of 7.27 inches by 110.69 inches. Use a 2-point stroke and no fill. Align the borders horizontally and vertically with the artboards. Creating the Circles Create 0.5-inch (1/2-inch) circles with a gray fill and 70 percent opacity. Place one at each corner of every art board.
